16-24? You could become a Modern Apprentice

Whether you’re still at school, searching for work or on the lookout for new skills, an MA could be the perfect way to learn on the job. You’ll also get industry-recognised qualifications and earn a wage.

Got a job?

You could start an MA with your current employer. Your company can get help to pay for your training costs as long as you’re 16-24. Over 24? There’s help for certain industries and apprenticeships.

Are you old enough?

You can start a Modern Apprenticeship if you’ve reached the Scottish statutory minimum school leaving age – for most people that’s 16.

Are you qualified?

It varies from employer-to-employer, but you’ll usually need three or more National 4s to apply for a Modern Apprenticeship. (Or Standard Grades at general level.) You can also start an MA at different levels, depending on the skills and qualifications you already have.
