Why Attendance Matters

St Mungo's Primary School & Nursery Class

At Bannerman High School we want your child to attend school every day. We are aiming for every pupil to have at least 95% attendance over the school year. You can find out your child's attendance % from their most recent tracking report, or by contacting their Pupil Support teacher. There are numerous academic studies that prove that low attendance is linked to poorer exam results, and lower lifetime earnings. The Impact of School Absence and Lifetime Earnings

Why is good attendance important?

  • Going to school every day opens doors to better opportunities in the future.
  • Going to school every day helps children develop essential life skills.
  • Going to school every day fosters friendships that can last a lifetime.

If you are struggling to get your child to attend school please contact your child's Pupil Support teacher.

You can also visit the Parent Club website which has lots of information and advice about encouraging good attendance.
