At Bannerman High School we want your child to attend school every day.
We are aiming for every pupil to have at least 95% attendance over the school year.
You can find out your child's attendance % from their most recent tracking report,
or by contacting their Pupil Support teacher. There are numerous academic studies that
prove that low attendance is linked to poorer exam results,
and lower lifetime earnings. The Impact of School Absence and Lifetime Earnings

The impact that taking your child on holiday during term time has on attainment
Evidence from the Scottish Longitudinal Study (May 2022) focused on S4 attainment related to absences;
- Family Holidays - Every 1% drop in attendance for family holidays translated into
a 3% drop in academic achievement.
- Sickness or Truancy Absence - Every 1% drop in attendance for sickness or truancy
translated into a 4% drop in academic achievement.
Why is good attendance important?
