Why STEM Matters
STEM matters because it helps young people understand and shape the world around them.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics sit at the heart of innovation, sustainability and economic growth. From renewable energy and healthcare to digital design and engineering, STEM skills open doors to a wide range of future pathways.
At Bannerman High School, we believe STEM is for everyone. It is not limited to one type of learner or one career route. Through inclusive teaching, real-world contexts and leadership opportunities, we help pupils build confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills that will support them in any future they choose.
STEM develops:
Critical and creative thinking
Collaboration and communication
Adaptability and resilience
Digital and technical skills
Leadership and initiative
Our aim is to ensure every learner feels a sense of belonging within STEM and understands the value of their contribution.
